How to be successful
Have you ever wondered how people attain success? How they achieve certain things which are seemingly impossible?
Many years ago, I was in a car showroom, waiting for my car to be serviced. I had time to kill. As anyone who knows when they go to the dealership, there are many cars there and they like you to sit in them and have a feel. This is all part of the experience. You get a sense of what you like and subconsciously you start thinking about it. I really liked the car I was sat in. It was the next bigger model of my car. I really liked the look and feel and the made up my mind to have one someday.
Your mind gets to work in seeing these cars about, you learn more about them, more and more, subtly the information is going in.
Fast forward a few years and I needed to replace one of our cars. All the information I had gathered over the years came flowing back. I started looking for that car. As part of my due diligence I looked at others too but none could compare. Very soon I found one at the price I was willing to pay. Sitting back to reflect, that was the same car I had dreamt of and desired. My subconscious mind had primed me to this place.
What do you want to focus on?
The same applies to us as people. Do you want to be a better person? Do you want to be successful? Do you want to change careers? The more you focus on these aspects, the subconscious brings them into focus. Take for example you would like to eat healthier. Suddenly you start seeing healthy recipes on your social feeds, the more you focus on them, the social engines continue that trend.
All of a sudden you find yourself making healthier food choices in your shopping and eating out. You may or may not have actively decided to make those choices. Imagine you are sitting in a restaurant with friends perusing the menu and you are attracted to the healthier options. At that time, no one had said to you, you need to eat healthy, in fact, the previous the few weeks and months of seeing healthy recipes and pictures on your social feeds has primed your mind to make the choice you now make.
Once you make that choice, you find it easier to make again and again. A few weeks down the road, as you continue with the healthier choices, you feel better somehow, not knowing quite what’s improved. If you were to take a time to reflect, you’d trace it back to the original thought that you wanted to eat healthier. When you review your social feeds and see an increase in healthier images and topics. Maybe you would have been discussing this with your friends, reading more health based articles and so on. As this has been in your mind, both conscious and subconscious, you have become what you were thinking.
Continuing to eat like this, what do you think the result will be?
Did you think youself thin?
In a word yes, however it would have been a long and slow process, if you truly arrived where you wanted to be. You could have sped it up by adding other elements to your healthy eating. You could involve friends and family and as you may have read in another post, that might not be the besdt path to success.
